Niagara North AAA Major Bantam Stars

Bruised and Endangered Regals beat Stars

Updated Thursday October 4, 2012 by Phil Ippin.

With two players on the 15 DL and two players suspended the 98 Buffalo Regals were forced to call up four players from their Minor Bantam squad on Tuesday night.  An early first period goal and two highlight reel circus trick stops by the Regals goaltender kept them ahead of the Stars for the night as they went on to win 2-1 and keep their undefeated season intact.   After the game assistant captain Rylee St. Onge spoke about the disappointment of losing their first ever meeting with the Buffalo Regals.  “It is frustrating outplaying a team for 30 minutes and losing.”

The Stars team seemed to lack a physical presence in front of the net.  The Buffalo goalie was sharp all night and was not intimidated by the perimeter shots that Niagara North was throwing at him.  The Stars really turned up the heat in the final ten minutes, but ten minutes doesn’t win a 40 minute game and the Stars are now below 0.500 for the second time this season.  Even more alarming is their record on the road (0-2-1).

The Stars will need to regroup in a hurry.  The puck drops in St Catharines in 20 hours for their match against the Niagara Falls Rivermen.
